Building for Our Future: TBI Endowment Campaign

Hearty thanks to all who responded to the High Holiday appeal! Since Rosh Hashanah, we’ve raised an additional $20,000 for the endowment. We’re currently at $581,190, or 58% of our audacious pledge goal, and we’ve now got commitments from 34% of our membership.

We’ve still got a long way to go to get to our goal of 100% member participation, and all TBI members and friends are encouraged to make a pledge to the “Building For Our Future” endowment campaign by the end of 2019. A high member participation rate will help our case when we begin to seek grant funding, so your gift large or small is significant.

Contributions may be made in cash as well as through stock transfers and various estate planning options (including bequests, life insurance, retirement funds, etc.). Pledges may be made over a five-year period, and may be anonymous or acknowledged in public. Pledge forms are available at TBI or by request.

If you have questions or wish to move forward on an endowment pledge or gift, please contact Joel Wittenberg or Abby Miller. Your gift is tax deductible as provided by law. Please make checks payable to: Temple B’nai Israel, Tax ID 38-6069296.

TBI members and friends are also invited to reach out to endowment committee members Henry and Ellen Winter, Joel Wittenberg, Abby Miller, Hayley Wasser, Joan Hawxhurst or Ken Odza for more information.  If you need contact information, please reach out to Julie at

Thank you for being part of this audacious effort to ensure that TBI provides a forever home for Reform Judaism in southwest Michigan.
