Meet our Religious School Principal
Kristi Arntzen grew up in suburban Chicago, attended college at the University of Michigan and graduate school in anthropology at Washington University-St. Louis. In St. Louis she also worked with pre-school through high-school-age students for seven years at a Kumon Math and Reading center, as a tutor and assistant to the director. She moved to Kalamazoo in 2005, and has developed and taught courses in anthropology and archaeology at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo Valley Community College,and Kellogg Community College.
She and her husband Ray DeBruler have been members of the Temple since the mid-2000s. She served on the Social Action Committee from 2007-2009, enjoyed the Taste of Judaism class with Henry and Ellen Winter in 2008, and studied Torah with Cantor Larry Charson in 2010 and 2011. She is thrilled to now be able to serve the Temple community through work in the Religious School, and very much enjoys collaborating with dedicated and insightful teachers to help our students explore their interestsand start to build their own unique Jewish identities.
