Wednesday, September 19, at COM
Grades 3-7, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Students will decorate the Sukkah at COM and enjoy a snack in it. We will alternate locations each year on Sukkot so that the youngest children who only come to school on Sundays will be able to experience the holiday in their home synagogue’s Sukkah every other year.
Sunday, September 23 at TBI
Grades Preschool-7, 9:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
High School 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Students will watch from the window as the Sukkah at TBI is being built, then decorate it and enjoy a snack in it. Parents (COM and TBI), come join us and help erect the Sukkah as the children watch.
TBI Sukkah-builders: Bring ladders, twine, and corn stalks on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. Contact Steve Bertman at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about TBI-Sukkah building.
The PreK-K class is much larger than expected, so we need more toys for ages 4-5. Specifically, one toy kitchen, ‘pretend’ challah, kiddush cup, candles (3 sets), and any other Jewish toys your children have outgrown. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
The Okun Kalamazoo Community Jewish School (OKCJS) has an immediate opening for a 3rd grade Hebrew teacher on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Knowledge of Hebrew consonants and vowels and an interest in working with children required. The students are learning to decode Hebrew letters, syllables and words. Teachers will be provided with orientation and ongoing teacher training, a comprehensive, detailed teacher’s manual, and a library of teaching tools. Salary commensurate with experience. Please circulate this note to anyone that might be interested. Thank you.
